India is the worst country for women in G20.

  • 12 million female fetuses have been aborted in past 3 decades.
  • Women are stripped in public in UP for extramarital affair.
  • Women are killed by relatives for falling in love with a man of other caste.
  • India suffers from lawlessness in general. Women too bear a huge burden of this mess e.g. women are gang-raped in police station by police.

What is the solution? India (unlike USA) does not permit citizens to carry arms. The solution is to let citizens carry arms.
Now, if someone tries to harm a woman, other citizens with arms can come forward to protect the woman or the women can arm themselves. Gun is a great equalizer. It allows a 50 Kg frail woman to fight and kill a 100 kg Rambo.
Indian government is corrupt. It claims that it wants to protect woman, but it does not allow citizens to carry guns for their own protection.

India has hiked fuel prices. It would be a lot better, if fuel prices are determined by free market (decontrol of prices) and taxes on fuel are reduced.

In USA, doctors prescribe “generic” drug name. Different Pharma companies compete to provide that medicine. In India, doctors prescribe “brand” name. So the patient is stuck with a single Pharma company, leading to lesser competition and higher prices.
Pharma companies give huge donations to political parties. So there is talk about cheaper medicines in India, but little actions. Patients should insist that their doctors give “Generic” drug name; Chemists should compete to provide “Generic” drugs. The more the competition, lower will be the prices.

India’s President says, “There is no humiliation more abusive than hunger.” I disagree. More abusive is a government that steals (taxes) from citizens, keeps most of it in its own pocket and distributes little to hungry to keep the show going.
India’s President says, “Tickle-down or economic reforms will not work in India.” Maybe, that is why he was removed as a Finance Minister; he does not understand economics.
Tickle-down works if there is competition among private enterprise to provide better services. Tickle-down never works, if there is government interference because it reduces competition. Just saying “Tickle-down works” or saying “Tickle-down does not work” is meaningless. The key question is whether we have government interference or not. That will determine the success of reforms. Which corrupt government will say the solution to our problems is lesser government?

Private sector investment is reducing in India, while government investment is rising. This is bad for the economy.

In a healthy economy, government expenses reduce, while private sector expenses increase. When government spends more, it leads to more taxes. When private sector spends more, it leads to greater tax collection and lower deficit. India is heading in a wrong direction. Hence Indian rupee has fallen by 26% in value, since Aug 2011.
